If you have a pain in your tooth, it is likely that you will need to visit the dentist; however, not every dental issue is an emergency. An emergency is a term that is applied to any severe issue regarding the teeth, roots, or gums that is a time-sensitive problem. Emergencies are issues that need to be handled immediately, so what types of issues qualify as an emergency?
When to Visit the Dentist?
Dental emergencies can range in their severity. Examples of possible problems that could be emergent include issues related to decay of the root or the enamel. If the pulp has become infected, a root canal should be performed sooner rather than later. Other possible emergencies include crowns or implants that have fallen out. It will be important to get these issues corrected before the problems spread to the other teeth. Once the emergency has been taken care of, the teeth should be back to their normal state of health.
